2,2-Dibromo-3-nitrilopropionamide or DBNPA is a fast acting, non-oxidizing biocide used in the oilfield industry. 

DBNPA reduces bacterial contamination and the degradation of fracturing fluids and gels used in oil and gas well stimulations. 

DBNPA is a good choice for top hole bacteria control as it has a quick kill rate and short half-life.

DBNPA is a free-flowing white solid that is often packaged in 1 pound water soluble bags.  These bags are added to water storage tanks prior to gelling and circulation.
